We are slowly becoming accustomed to the name change that Konami is so keen to push home, but as they build up to the launch of eFootball PES 2020, a brand new partnership has been announced today–one that sees an exclusive UEFA agreement that will enable gamers to take part in the eEURO 2020 Tournament and EURO 2020 DLC!
EFootball PES 2020 is Konami's recent effort to bring it to EA and FIFA, with Xbox One, PS4 and PC releases beginning on 10 September 2019. But to be crowned champions this coming year, Konami knows they're going to have to attempt something else and that might well be an exclusive partnership with UEFA.
See, this recent exclusivity agreement will see eFootball PES 2020 become the official video game of the upcoming EURO 2020 tournament, providing free DLC for the game in Q2 2020.
Next year's official Euro 2020 DLC update will hit home in Q2, bringing to the game more than 50 domestic football associations and their teams–and yes, there will be present Portugal champions.
The licensing agreements mean that all the kits, crests and players of the national teams will be included in the main game and the upcoming UEFA EURO 2020 DLC, all of which will be faithfully recreated ahead of the real-world tournament starting next June.
Guy Laurent-Epstein, UEFA Events SA's advertising manager, remarked: "We are delighted to proceed and expand our collaboration with KONAMI. UEFA EURO 2020 offers an chance to create an even closer working relationship, enabling us to activate it in fresh and interesting ways and engage with our mutual supporters worldwide."
But that's not all, and KONAMI and UEFA also announced that the UEFA eEURO 2020 tournament will be created. This brand-new sports competition will be performed solely on eFootball PES 2020, as representatives of domestic football organizations from all over Europe will compete for glory. The tournament will feature an online qualifying stage, with the top 16 teams qualifying for a London physical event–running between the UEFA EURO 2020 semi-finals and final.
Jonas Lygaard, Senior Director at Konami Digital Entertainment B.V., Brand & Business Development. Commented: "Our teams have pulled out all the stops to secure the greatest and best possible eFootball PES 2020 licenses; quality licenses that match the gameplay level we set each year. The partnership with UEFA and the EURO 2020 tournament is a large victory for our community and new customers looking all year round for fresh material."
